Eating Out Healthfully

Eating out can be hard on the pocket book and hard on your heart, so make the best choices you can.

Here are a few tips:

1) If I order a salad, I don’t put the dressing on the salad, instead I ask for the dressing on the side. I stick my fork into the dressing, then into the salad, and this way I get the pleasure of the dressing without overdoing it.

2) Look at at the restaurant’s menu online before going. That way you can take your time deciding, and then make the best choices without the pressure of making a fast decision.

3) Ask how foods are prepared and avoid fried foods and foods drenched in creamy sauces and butter. Look for key words on the menu such as broiled, baked, poached , steamed, or grilled.
